Urban Policy System in the Strategic Perspective – from V4 to Ukraine

The project “Urban Policy System in the Strategic Perspective – from V4 to Ukraine” focuses on the urban policy system analysed in the strategic perspective. The cooperation of the researchers and practitioners from Visegrad Group states and Ukraine (representatives of public institutions and non-governmental organizations etc.) will enable the diagnosis of the conditions and mechanisms of creating the urban policy administrative system in the Visegrad Group states and Ukraine at the central, regional and local level. Undoubtedly, there is a lack of strategic approach to creating urban policy system, with the active participation of administration system and civil society (governance and rule of law approach), especially in Ukraine. Many projects, discussions, reports and books concerning urban policy have been organized and published so far. However, there is no such a project which would concentrate on the states of Visegrad Group and Ukraine and contain the recommendations aimed at practitioners – representatives of public institutions, NGOs and, what is important, citizens. The project will also allow one to determine if Ukraine as the Eastern Partnership state can draw from the experiences of the Visegrad Group states and, whether the Visegrad Group states and Ukraine can follow the experiences of the “old” European Union states.
The Institute of Political Science of the University of Wrocław is the institution coordinating the project. The period of project implementation is 2019-2021.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
